What are the major functions of the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission (RDEC), Taipei City Government?

The prominent functions of the Research, Development, and Evaluation Commission (RDEC) are to enhance inter-agency coordination of the Taipei City Government (TCG); to facilitate TCG’s communication and interactions with Taipei citizens; and ensure quality municipal services. In order to serve these purposes, RDEC outlines TCG’s overall mid-and-long- term development plans, incorporates academic research to assist administrative decisions and practices, and conducts various surveys to evaluate the effectiveness of policies and programs, and conducts inspections and evaluations regularly and irregularly as well to supervise the progress, efficiency, and quality of all practices and services. In addition, RDEC is in charge of the 24/7 “1999 Citizen Hotline,” the most comprehensive phone inquiry services, to ensure people’s opinions and requests are answered timely and properly.
